The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway - Scribner's HC - 1952 copyright
$90 · Offered by eBay · No longer available
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. Hardcover, Charles Scribner's Sons, copyright 1952. While it's hard to pin down the specifics, this is not the true first printing, as it misses some of the characteristic marks. The price of $3.50 and the code X-4.65{H} on the copyright page indicate a later printing, possibly in the 1960s. Still, a gorgeous antiquarian copy, with a beautiful dust jacket, lovely full-cloth boards, thick paper and elegant typesetting. Good condition. Dust jacket has some wear: chips along the outside edge on the rear, as well as on top; light edgewear and a small tear on the front bottom; otherwise, fairly vibrant and well-preserved, now in a Brodart mylar covering. Boards covered in full cloth, with blind debossing of author's name on front board and silver lettering on the spine. Aside from some light shelfwear, boards are in excellent shape, with square corners and a straight spine. Pages and text block are clean (only very lightly toned). See photos for details. You will receive the exact book pictured. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. I combine shipping.
