The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien 1981 Silver Anniversary Edition by Houghton Mifflin, Boston Set of Three Hardcovers in Slipcase 1. The Fellowship of the Ring 2. The Two Towers 3. The Return of the King All Three have maps! This set is in acceptable condition as far as the spine view. All three have wear, fading, peeling and creasing on the outer spines. However, the silver covers are in decent shape. The red-deckled edges are in lovely, clean condition. Inside, the covers open fully but the books are well bound. The end papers are in fantastic condition. PLEASE NOTE: on the pages preceding the map attachments, on books one and two, there is a slight separation at the binding of that page only- the pages are still well attached. See photos please. Despite the spine, the insides are in very nice shape, with flat, clean pages. (Please note, inside Fellowship, there are a few pages folded over at the top corners). At the rear of The Return, there is one water spot but only on that last page and upper corner of endpaper. In general, though the outsides are delicate, the insides are in very good, readable condition with a fairly fresh feel. The maps are in excellent condition. The slipcase is a little worn, with a split at one seam, and some uneven texture to the leatherette covering.
