Ryukyu Fuzoku Ezu INTRODUCTION: This book contains the “Ryukyu Fuzoku Ezu ( llustrations of Ryukyu Customs ),” held in the Hōrei Collection at the University of Hawaii, along with explanatory notes. The original is a folded book made of washi paper consisting of approximately 30 pages, painted by Sa Hiretsu (1843-?). The illustrations depict the hairstyles and tattoos of women and children, the lifestyles of peddlers, farmers, and fishermen, as well as wedding and funeral processions.
