The American photographer William Claxton (1927-2008) and German music journalist Joachim Berendt (1922-2000) spent most of 1960 travelling around the United States photographing and recording jazz musicians. Jazz Life was originally published in 1961 by Burda Druck und Verlag in Offenburg.
