Ballet. First edition of the photographer's only book, a landmark work shot in late 1930s New York. It captures the Ballets Russes companies formed after Diaghilev's 1929 death and contains images of Bronislava Nijinska's "Les Noves", George Balanchine's "Cotillon", and Leonide Massine's "Symphonie Fantastique", among others. The heightened contrast and purposefully blurry images "totally violated the accepted conventions of good photographic technique" (Badger) and became iconic snapshots of ballet's fluid grace.
