Tientsin. First edition, first printing, of this trilingual celebration of ten years of communist rule in Tianjin. In contrast to later, more overt, propaganda photobooks, this example places a heavy emphasis on the city's achievements in culture and the arts, showing wood carving, the zoo, lunar new year traditions, and the library.Known for its associations with Zhou Enlai, Tianjin fell to Mao's forces shortly before his triumphant entry into Beijing in January 1949. Since the 1950s, it has evolved into an industrial and commercial powerhouse and north China's second city after Beijing.
