Fashion.- Silks.- Carte de Nuances de la Soie-Nouvantes, 17 issues, mixed, conertina-style fold-out paper boards, each containing either 92 or 144 fabric samples tipped-in, lacking one or two smaples from the early issues and a few creased or slightly trimmed in the later, mounts a little browned in places but samples bright, within original fabric-backed printed boards, scattered stains another markings, 8vo, Lyon, Federation de la Soie, 1932-68; and another relating to silk weaving, [sold as a periodical, not subject to return] (18) *** A lovely collection of mixed spirng and autumn editions. Produced by the Silk Federation, these colour charts introduced the new colours for each season. Designed for use by fashion houses, they helped in selection of the correct shades, to standarise the colours produced by manufacturers and were also an important tool in documenting trends in the French textile industry.
