The book introduces concepts through enjoyable conundrums, presenting questions on algebra, geometry, arithmetic, probability, and magic squares.Kraitchik (1882-1957), a Russian-born Belgian mathematician, specialized in number theory and recreational mathematics. He edited the journal Sphinx: Revue mensuelle des questions récréatives between 1931 and 1939, and after the Second World War taught a course on recreational mathematics in New York. La mathématique des jeux was published in English translation in 1953.
