A Life of Chekhov. Translated by Erik De Mauny. First edition of this "romanced" biography. Nemirovsky wrote the work during the outbreak of the Second World War, and it was published posthumously in 1946, following her death at Auschwitz in 1942. It was reissued in 2008 and adapted for radio by the BBC in the same year.
