Alongside the production of nearly 40 million gas masks, the government trained the Civil Defence Service in anti-gas precautions and emergency response. This collection includes ten series of specialist training manuals for the Casualty Services, First Aid Parties, and Decontamination Services, the units expected to treat victims, contain contamination, and clear affected areas after an attack.The collection also contains slides showing the aftermath of bombing, presumably the Newcastle Blitz.
