Rare record of the service of the Punjab Frontier regiments, with only 2 copies in UK institutions (BL, Edinburgh). The map is especially curious. This work is scarce partially due to its nature as a Waziristan imprint, and the map also appears to have been printed by the same press. It is signed at the bottom left 'C. M. G. Lahore', indicating the the cartographers were Lahore based, and yet the paper is watermarked as being from Sweden. It is no surprise that the press in Dera Ismail Khan had to use whatever paper it could get its hands on - truly an ephemeral production. First only edition; small 4to (26 x 19 cm); folding map to rear pocket, ephemera loosely inserted; publisher's original green cloth title to upper board, original drab dust-jacket, small defects to spine and several discreet tape repairs, ownership inscription to upper panel, still a well preserved copy.
