"The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag" by Robert A. Heinlein, published by Gnome Press in 1959, 1st Edition, 1st Printing, Signed by Heinlein on the title page. This key science fiction novel by one of the greats collects the novella "The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag" and five shorter tales, including "All You Zombies," "They," "And He Built a Crooked House", 'The Man Who Traveled in Elephants,' and 'Our Fair City.' "The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag" is considered one of Heinlein's greatest stories, as even today it contains edgy and fresh elements of speculative fiction (Philip K Dick territory) even though it was written in 1942! All You Zombies was one of the first sci-fi stories to deal with time paradoxes, as well as the basis for the 2014 science fiction thriller film "Predestination", and "They" has been touted as "the consummate story of invasion and isolation." All this taken in consideration, this book is not only a great read, but one of the pivotal books in science fiction and in Heinlein's career. The book is in near fine condition with tanning of the paper due to the cheap grade of paper used by Gnome press at the time, in a very good dustwrapper with light wear at all edges, small chips (1/4 inch) at 3 corners, and rub marks on the spine (please see images). As always with our books, the printing history and the author's signature are guaranteed authentic.
