Very Far Away from Anywhere Else (signed, her own copy, with a letter to her from the publisher)
$1,250 · Offered by Biblio
First edition · Signed · In dust jacket
NY: Atheneum, 1976. First edition. Hardcover. Near fine/Fine. Eighth printing, but one of Le Guin's own copies, signed by her on the title page. Laid in is a 1989 letter from the editorial director of Atheneum to Le Guin conveying the book, in full: "Dear Ursula: I am enclosing two copies of the eighth printing of VERY FAR AWAY FROM ANYWHERE ELSE. You'll not that the FIRST EDITION notation is still on the copyright page. I guess this no longer indicates a copy from the very first printing, but 'edition' used more in the text book sense as being unrevised to date. Best wishes, Johnathan J. Lanman." An interesting bibliographic note. Very Far Away From Anywhere Else is described as "a slender, realistic story of a young man's coming of age ... one of the most inspiring novels Ursula K. Le Guin ever published." A neat-o association copy. The book is very near fine with the barest hint of rubbing to board edges; in a fine jacket. The letter with a little creasing and toning to edges.
