In 2 Volumes. Volume 1: pages 564 through 590 (May 1868); pages 669 through 699 (June 1868). Volume 2: page 63 through 98 (July 1868); 162 through 190 (August 1868); 287 through 313 (September 1868); 438 through 453 (October 1868); 571 through 584 (November 1868); and 686 through 697 (December 1868). Both volumes are bound in old half calf with spines re-backed with blue morocco spine labels lettered in gilt. There is a book-plate in the front of both volumes: James M Cardle, 2 Mount Terrier Terrace, Belfast. These books were originally part of a collection of supernatural tales assembled by a husband and wife and there are a couple of small labels inside each indicating from the collection of . Both volumes are in VG condition, with red speckled edges with some foxing to the early/late pages of the books. First editions by this author in the Dublin University Magazine are exceedingly uncommon. Le Fanu was a regular contributor to the Dublin University Magazine in which he also held a financial interest. Although he is probably not as well known as Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker or Mary Shelley, Sheridan Le Fanu, is a seminal figure in the development of horror writing.
