1895. No Binding. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. POTTER Beatrix. Original watercolour drawing [NP; ND; ca 1895]. IMage size: 51/2 * 813/16 inches; 140*223 mm. With an unfinished pencil sketch of the garden on the back. The garden of Gwaynynog was used as the setting for The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies (London: 1909). Matted, framed and glazed. On 28 May 1895 Beatrix Potter wrote in her journal: 'Went to Swaynynog near Denbigh to stay with the Burton's for one week... The garden is very large, two-thirds surrounded by a red brick wall with many apricots, and an inner circle of old grey apple trees on wooden espaliers. It is very productive but not tidy, the prettiest kind of garden, where bright old fashioned flowers grow amongst the currant bushes' (Linder, The Journal of Beatrix Potter p378). In 1909 Beatrix Potter used this garden for the setting of The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies p378, note).
