New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1987. Hardcover. Very Good/First Edition. Octavo. Stated first edition with $18.95 price on flap of Toni Morrison's magnum opus, made into a major film. This copy belonged to Morrison's friend the singer/actress and Chicago activist (for Mayor Washington's campaign) Helene D. Colvin, and bears her signature and Chicago address on the endpaper. A clean, bright, unmarked association copy. Book has a minor 1/4" round stain on rear free endpaper and is slightly slanted (this can be straightened on a vise on request). Jacket is fine except for price clipping and a spine corner nick protected by the archival Mylar cover. An attractive copy.
