A broken of eight issues spanning 1906 to 1915; the first issue is Vol. XXV No. 5 and the final issue is Vol. XXXIV, No. 37. Slim small quartos. Illustrated. Heavy wear, wrappers soiled or foxed, most with a tiny address label, sound but good only. The interiors have been nicely preserved. Known as the *Oak Park Vindicator* from 1881 to 1901, *Oak Leaves* was established in 1902 as a weekly for the town of Oak Park. The periodical is best known for publishing what is believed to be Ernest Hemingway's first contribution to a newspaper, "High Carnival Next," in 1916. An interesting snapshot of a wealthy Chicago suburb in the early 20th Century, filled with local ads, politics, and goings-on (down to the level of visitors to town, families returning from vacation, and a mailman bitten by a snake.).
