The typeface is not battered on Pg. 38 lines 6-9; not battered on pg. 248 lines 21-24 and the page number 90 has no battering anywhere and the 90 is distinct. 267 pages. Dark-green mesh patterned cloth. Blind-stamped front cover- Spine title in faded gilt. Scribner s seal on the copyright page along with the 1926 on the title page and 1926 on the copyright page. This book is made interesting by the addition of a Dept Store printed label applied to the very front cover of the book measuring about 4 inches long by 1 3/4 inches wide stating The Broadway Department Store/Broadway Fourth and Hill Arthur Letts, Jr. President READER S LIBRARY. Inside is a larger library type label: This Book is the Property of The Broadway Department Store Reader s Library Books One and Two Cents A Day - No Membership Fee/Time Limit on all Books 30 days . Customers had to put down an 8 cent deposit on two-cent a day books and 5 cents deposit on one-cent-a-day books. This rare Fitzgerald 1st state printing - was for rent as a two-center. There is also an ink rubber-stamped number 40973 on the inside front pages and a portion of the original dust jacket inside flap or possibly back cover panel has been glued to the free endpaper.
