First edition

Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very good. 1st Edition. 436 pages. 1959. Octavo. Bound in publisher's blue cloth with silver spine lettering and author's facsimile signature blind-stamped to the front board. Top edge not stained (as sometimes found; the red topstain is prone to fading or omission in binding variants). Copyright page states "First Printing" with no later impressions noted. Dust jacket retains the original $4.75 price, unclipped, with correct first-issue design. Jacket shows only light edgewear, still bright and attractive. Previous owners names and dates on the endpaper as shown. Otherwise clean and unmarked. A strong example of the final volume in Faulkner's Snopes Trilogy (The Hamlet, The Town, The Mansion), issued just two years before the author's death. Binding tight and clean; minimal rubbing. Jacket unclipped at $4.75 with slight toning and edgewear. Lacks the red topstain sometimes seen on this edition, but otherwise a genuine first edition, first printing in its original jacket.
