First British edition: Burmese Days, Orwell s first novel, was first published in New York in 1934: Victor Gollancz in London had initially rejected the novel ( obviously written directly from experience , ODNB) for fear of libel actions, and published it only after the success of the American edition. ~Robust packaging.
