In the framing narrative for this weekly periodical, published from April 1840 to December 1841, the titular Master Humphrey sets up a club where he along with his friends and colleagues share stories with each other - one of whom is Mr. Pickwick of THE PICKWICK PAPERS, creating a sort of Dickensian Extended Universe. 3 volumes, 10'' x 6.5'' each. Contemporary three-quarter brown goatskin, marbled paper boards. Gilt stamped spine, raised bands. Marbled endpapers and edges. Each volume with engraved frontispiece and in-text illustrations. vi, 306; vi, 306; vi, 426 pages. Moderate rubbing and edgewear, spines gently toned. Light foxing to endpapers.
