A partial manuscript draft history of the American Revolution, apparently unpublished, likely written in the mid-19th century, sometime after the year 1847. The manuscript offers a remarkably detailed and comprehensive account of the political, military, and diplomatic history of the war's origins and its early years. Although unsigned, the manuscript was almost certainly written by Morven Moore Jones, a resident of Oneida County, New York; an active chronicler of the region's history; and a founding member of the Oneida County Historical Society. The manuscript draft appears to represent a complete chapter in what was likely a larger work in progress on the history of the American Revolution. The chapter, captioned "Continuation of the ante-revolutionary history," consists of 137 manuscript pages written on sixty-nine folio leaves. Included throughout are the author's numerous manuscript revisions. The chapter covers a twelve-year period between the repeal of the Stamp Act in 1766 and the signing of the treaty of alliance with France on February 6, 1778.
