1948. vg+. This letter is written in reply to his great friend Bert Lewis, dated 21 August 1948; It reads as follows: 'Dear Bert, Thanks for letter – was wondering what had happened! Interested to hear about your maths. I hope you get what you want. I've managed to get First Class Hons in my B.Sc though it will be some time before I can use the letters after my name. I shall be doing astronomy for a year at the University Observatory. Sometime in the next few months I've got to do my BIS paper [see Note 1] "The Dynamics of Interplanetary Flight" which I'm delivering on Dec 11. I suppose you knew that Stapledon [see Note 2] is opening our programme on Oct 9? I can't give you permission to publicise the poems – they're Eric Russell's!! [see Note 3] As for the article, it is hopelessly out of date now – it's over ten years old! I've done quite a bit of writing this vacation, which should please my agent who is clamouring for more. One 10, one 11, one 4 thousand worder. Unfortunately they still have to be revised and typed! I have two long stories I want to write but will be unable to do now, as the whole of Sept. must be spent on study. My novel "Against the Fall of Night" is appearing in the Nov. "Startling".
