Prepared by Samuel Weller Singer, this edition is based on the 1626 first edition and John Lewis's 1729 edition. An additional 100 signed copies printed on standard paper were also issued. Large octavo (231 x 146 mm). Engraved frontispiece, folding plate. Nineteenth-century red morocco, spine with 5 raised bands, compartments elaborately tooled in gilt, covers framed and with cornerpieces in gilt, board edges and turn-ins rolled in gilt, marbled endpapers, edges gilt, red silk bookmarker. Housed in a custom purple cloth solander box. With armorial vellum bookplate of one Thomas Curtis. Spine ends and corners rubbed, foxing to outer leaves (particularly frontispiece), contents clean: in very good condition.
