Publisher s light grey paper and burgundy cloth-covered boards, with titling and author s initials stamped in silver on spine and front board. Printed by Jonathan Cape using American sheets. One of 2,500 copies. Boards exceptionally bright and clean. A near fine copy. The dustwrapper is in VG condition with creasing at the head and tail of the spine and to the front flap which is NOT price clipped. The spine of the dustwrapper is partially faded - as is customarily seen with this title. This is a pretty nice copy of a rare book, especially double-signed. The book comes complete with the rare WRAP-AROUND BAND (partially sunned to the spine portion) announcing the book to be the Winner of the 1981 10,000 Booker McConnell Prize for Fiction. Winner of the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for the same year. Awarded the Booker of Booker s Prize in 1993, and in 2008 voted the Best of the Booker s for most outstanding novel published in the last 40 years.
