1966. Softcover. Very Good. Unbound playscript laid into a yellow wrapper. Quarto. Mimeographed sheets printed on the rectos only: [1], I-73; [1], II-51pp. Possibly lacking a preliminary half-title leaf, but with a list of credits on a slightly different paper - possibly typed - at the front, with Edward Albee's name written in pencil at the top; the name also appears on the first page of the script, along with a control number ("12") at the top right corner written in black marker. Some very light edge toning, and the first and last leaves with some very minor chipping at the edges or wear to the punch holes, near fine. A short-lived musical based on Truman Capote's 1958 novella of the same name. The production, which starred Mary Tyler Moore and Richard Chamberlain, is famous for failing before it even started. Constant rewrites and last-minute changes meant the show never stood a chance. Only four preview shows were performed before the show was shut down without ever having an official premiere. Laid in is a fine 8" x 10" gelatin silver photograph showing the marquee of the Majestic Theatre in New York City advertising the production during previews. An uncommon script. From the collection of Geoffrey Johnson, the Broadway casting agent for *Cats* and *Les Miserables*, among many others.
