Presents much better than the description indicates. This book marked the fourth and final appearance of Scotland Yard's Dan Pardoe and Tommy Salt. FEAR FOR MISS BETONY is now considered the author's masterpiece and was hailed by the Times as the best mystery of the year. Once touted as the successor to Dorothy L. Sayers, Bowers died at age 46 from tuberculosisi shortly after she was inducted into the prestigious Detection Club, the society of Golden Age mystery writers that included Sayers, Agatha Christie, and G.K.
