Here she is widowed (in an air-raid this is one of the few Christies anchored to an actual time), and burdened by financially insatiable relatives, both of blood and in-law. But who exactly is dead, and who isn t? And who is what they seem, and who isn t? Originally published in 1948 (with the U.S. edition, under the title There is a Tide... , preceding the British (Collins/Crime Club) edition by eight months); this inexplicably uncommon reissue of the Collins edition, with the same dustjacket art, was its first hardcover appearance since then, although there had been numerous paperback printings. . 1968.
