The composer is depicted half-length, turned quarter left, his face inclined towards the viewer. He wears a long wig, olive green unbuttoned jacket, white shirt, and cravat.Canvas 760 x 610 mm 30 x 24 ; overall size overall 940 x 790 mm 37.25 x 31 . Attractively framed, The original painting by Denner is held in the National Portrait Gallery, London. It is believed that Handel gave it to his friend J. C. Smith the younger 1712-1795 .
