London: G. Strahan, C. Rivington, J. Smith, J. Graves, and C. King, 1719. Hardcover. Very Good. Hardcover, contemporary leather boards with modern leather spine and endpapers; title page, iii-xxiv, TOC, 1-133; decorative head & tail pieces. Burn marks to original leather near spine, a very nice solid binding. The section "A Form of Consecrating Churches" has some ink and pencil notes; it looks like a previous owner put this to practical use. Thomas Lewis (1689â€"in or after 1737) was an English cleric, noted as a vitriolic High Church writer who established a weekly periodical, The Scourge, in 1717. His attacks on members of other sects led to libel charges.
