Yale, Brown and the Connecticut Historical Society being the only holdings in OCLC. In addition Yale the Historical Society hold an 1816 imprint; Yale additionly has 1832, 1834 and 1836. An agenda of eleven items, the first being music; there are six orations: the disadvantages of reading with little reflection by Thomas C. Perkins; the choice of a profession by Sylvester Hovey; the origin and extent of superstition by Henry Dutton (later Governor of the state for one term and the Kent Professor of Law at Yale--see DAB]; a blind admiration of original genius by Hector Humphreys (later President of St. Johns, Annapolis); the origin, great end, and support of civil government by Roger Griswold (presumably the son of the Governor) and the liberty of the Press. In addition there was a dissertation on the quesstion Is luxury beneficial? by Elnathan Gridley; a disputation on the question: Will the government of the United States probably, at some future period, become monarchical by Lewis Weld, Affirmant (the second President of Gallaudet) and John N. S. Jones, Opponent. A dialogue by eight members of the group, two colloquies complete the events. While only Dutton rose to some prominence, several of the members of the group became State Senators, educators or clergymen of standing in later life
