1954. Paperback . Very Good. An unusual and amusing pair of brief Autograph statements signed John Steinbeck, two pages, oblong 8vo and slim oblong 8vo, n.p., 19th June 1954. The first, larger page is entitled World Inquiry - Maxims of Life of the Great Authors of the whole world in the hand of a collector or admirer of his work, to which Steinbeck responds «Live!« and signs his name immediately beneath. The second page, neatly tipped at the left edge to the first page, features a question in the hand of the same collector, «If you had to end up your life on one word, what word would it be?«, to which Steinbeck responds «Die!«.
