This appears to be from First Lieutenant Reynold F. Migdalski of the 10th Cavalry to a Lieutenant Herbert C. Hurhahin (sp?). Cover worn, edges rubbed, spine frayed at top and bottom, and tear at mid-spine. Front hinge weak and restrengthened with glue. Bookplate on fep. Ink notation Troop F 101st Cav on fep. Some tick marks to roster names. First Lieutenant George S. Patton, 8th Cavalry was on special service with the Expedition. First Lieutenant George C. Marshall, Jr. was with the 16th Infantry. Major Benjamin Foulois was with the First Aero Squadron, Signal Corps. Colonel Frank Tompkins (1868 - 1954) served in the Spanish-American War in Cuba, the Philippine-American War, the Mexican Border War, and World War I. On March 9, 1916 the border town of Columbus, New Mexico was attacked by forces under the command of the Mexican revolutionary, Pancho Villa. Eighteen Americans were killed and a number of buildings were burned to the ground before the U.S. Cavalry, inflicting heavy losses, drove Villa and his mounted band back into Mexico.
