God Bless Her! First edition, signed by the Queen Mother on the contents page. Tipped to the front free endpaper is a presentation letter from her private secretary Sir Martin Gilliat to the artist Fleur Cowles (1908-2009). On the letter's reverse, Cowles has provided a description of her friendship with the Queen Mother. Fleur Cowles was best known as the force behind Flair magazine, a short-lived luxury publication which attracted contributions from Winston Churchill and Salvador Dalí among others. An obituary in The Independent describes her as a socialite operating "amid the uppermost reaches of A-list celebrity", the Queen Mother being "one of her proudest conquests". Her bookplate is on front pastedown. This biography was written to celebrate the Queen Mother's 87th birthday and is illustrated extensively with portraits and photographs from her life.
