Glass sculpture of Mark Twain

Measuring about 9 cm in height, 7 to 8 cm across, 9 cm deep. The base of the sculpture resembles marble, but the translucence of the base looking into the core betrays the material as glass. We believe this sculpture was made in what is known as End-of-the-Day glassware -- glassware made by artisans in a glass plant with materials leftover, and made for their own account typically, mixing in colors in a process called mavering. The piece has a wonderful whimsy to it, with its oversized moustache and bulging amber dots representing the pupils of Twain's eyes. We have no sense of an actual date of creation, but we would hazard a guess of mid-20th century.
