Hartford, CT: The American Publishing Company, 1897. 1st edition, 1st state. Hardcover. Good. 712p. A hardcover book bound in blue pictorial cloth with gilt decorations on the fornt cover and spine. Good condition overall. On the spine is written "CL / 64" in white ink, although there is no other evidence of this being an ex-library copy. A couple of tiny black ink spots on the front cover. Edges rubbed and tips of spine lightly worn. Small, pale dampstain in top margin of first several leaves. Small closed tears on edges of dedication page, up to page 12 in the table of contents. Otherwise, text unmarked and binding tight. The first edition, first state binding, with plenty of black and white illustrations.
