First edition

Centipede Press: Austin, TX, 2007. First edition (& 1st printing). Oversize hardcover. Massive oversized (40 cm x 30 cm) 400-page art book with colour and b/w art of the last eighty years, including several pages of fold-out illustrations; artists include H.R. Giger, Michael Whelan, Lee Brown Coye, Virgil Finlay, Gahan Wilson and J.K. Potter, plus many more. Contains many previously unpublished works, and several major essays: introduction by Harlan Ellison, foreword by Stuart Gordon and an afterword by Thomas Ligotti. LIMITED EDITION: this copy has ''3D'' cover art on the front board and has a signature page at the back with the signatures of six people, Bob Eggleton, Tim Kirk, Allen K. Koszowski, Thomas Ligotti, Mike Mignola and Michael Whelan. Opposite this signature page is the copyright page and it does state at the bottom ''A limited, signed deluxe edition of this book has also been published''. So this is not the numbered/limited, but doesn't seem to be the unsigned edition either? And the front cover is different. I asked Jerad of Centipede Books about it and he said, ''On these copies of Artists Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, I had some leftover book blocks and leftover signature pages - so I took the extra signature pages, tipped them into the back of the book, and bound them with this cloth and the leftover 3D prints I had, too. I think there might have been 25 done like this? It wasn’t many!''. Fine copy in a fine dustjacket and slipcase (as new).
