First edition. Wright I:1011. A scarce novel set around Tecumseh's War, which portrays the Indians sympathetically. Edgar Allan Poe critically reviewed the book of his University of Virginia classmate in the August 1836 Southern Literary Messenger. Labels sunned and lightly chipped, some wear to spine ends and corners, scattered foxing, very old waterstain to lower free corner of final leaves of Vol. Two, else a very good copy.
