London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1908. FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. xiii, [i], 226, [18, ads] + frontispiece and 46 plates (containing a total of 61 images) and 3 maps. Original red cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front board blocked in black, grey and blue. A little light soiling in places, some spotting to title-page and following few leaves. Spine a little cocked and very slightly faded, cloth a bit soiled overall (particularly to rear board), spine ends bumped. A very presentable copy of Churchill rsquo;s account of his tour of East Africa in 1907 and 1908, written as a series of articles under contract for The Strand magazine but very quickly expanded into this book form as well.
