This listing is for The Longest Day (Hardcover, 1959) by Cornelius Ryan. A previous owner/seller of the book performed research on its provenance and states that it was once owned by John H. ("Jack") Thompson of the Chicago Tribune. This book has a loose signature card signed by Cornelius Ryan (using his familiar name "Connie" - See 4th Photo). The book itself has 13 additional signatures on the reverse of the front free end-paper, the majority of which appear to come from other war correspondents (See 5th Photo - And See 3rd Photo for the research done on the signatures by the previous owner). This book is used. For condition information, please see below. Condition Details Dust jacket has tears including a large chip out of top of spine (See 15th Photo) as well as a great deal of other wear. Currently in a protective plastic cover. Boards have some bumping, fading to top and bottom edges (See 16th/17th Photos for examples), discoloration near top of spine (See 17th Photo), and other general wear. Front board seems to be somewhat bent. Spine is slanted. Binding, while somewhat worn, is fully secure (See 18th Photo). Front hinge has significant wear just after the front free end-paper (signature page) (See 19th Photo for example). Outside of text-block has noticeable soiling (See 20th Photo for example). Pages have age yellow
