Romantic and touching letter written by the Pulitzer-Prize winning author to his wife Carol Marcus Saroyan, just after the birth of their first child, Aram, the writer. They had a second child, the actress Lucy Saroyan. "Dear Baby, I think it was last year that you & I went to see 'Hello Out There', and tomorrow night that we had such a sad sweet time saying goodbye at the Hampshire House - and now look where we are - both of us in hospitals...and as you are Aram's Ma - and he is exactly Aram - I am more than ever in love with you..." Carol Grace was born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan to the sixteen year old daughter of Russian-Jewish immigrants. Her mother later identified her absentee father as the actor Leslie Howard. After her mother married the wealthy Charles Marcus, she attended the Dalton School where she joined the ranks of the city's most fêted debutantes along with her friends Oona O'Neill and Gloria Vanderbilt. She met Truman Capote when they were both thirteen, and claimed her personality - as well as her pink fingernails and red toenails - was the inspiration for that of Holly Golightly. She married Saroyan twice during the period of 1943-1949, then married Walter Matthau in 1959.
