This is an illustrated copy of "The Moon is Down" by JOHN STEINBECK with its original dust jacket. 1943; The Sun Dial Press; Garden City, New York. This edition features black & white photographs from the 1943 movie adaptation. From the dust jacket: "The Moon is Down continues the experiment begun with Of Mice and Men, that of writing a short novel having the time and place disciplines of the stage. The scene of the book is any conquered country in any time. The author has purposely refrained from making it literally true to actual events. Although the weapons and ideologies may be of the present, they are only vehicles for the theme that a free brave people is unconquerable." Condition: Clean covers and spine with no stains; there is some light age toning along the edges of the covers; sharp corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The front blank end paper has been removed. Nice pages - lightly age-toned but clean with no writing or tears found; the lower-inner corners of a few pages at the front have a small, light stain...no other stains found; some very light foxing to the first few pages. Nice dust jacket with only a thin, light stain at the bottom edge of the rear flap, and tanning along the left edge of the front flap. (The dust jacket comes in a clear protective sleeve - not shown.)
