The Japanese Way photographically documents the extent of damage from the Japanese bombing and invasion in Shanghai, Tianjin, Nanjing, Guangzhou, and Suzhou, with shots of soldiers marching through the streets, injured civilians, and destroyed buildings. The Story of Japan in China compiles satirical cartoons about the Japanese war effort from various North American newspapers.The Trans-Pacific News Service was established in 1937 as a newspaper and propaganda outlet that aimed to spread positive opinions about China among the American public. It was funded by the Kuomintang's Ministry of Information and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Until 1941 they issued a weekly newsletter on the war between China and Japan and released longer pieces occasionally in the China Reference Series. In 1941 the company was expanded and renamed to become the China News Service Inc.This copy of The Japanese Way is a second printing (12 January 1938), following the first of 6 December 1937.
