Light soiling to exterior, some rubbing and wear to extremities, joints starting, chipping to spine ends, corners bumped and worn, struck-through early owner signature (Henry Buncombe) to front pastedown. Light toning to interior, occasional light foxing, early owner signature (H. Tuson, dated 1841) to title page. A serjeant, judge, politician and playwright, Talfourd "was particularly loved by Charles Dickens and provided the archetype of the idealistic Tommy Traddles in David Copperfield" (ODNB).
