Shooting schedule: 42 leaves. Photocopied on varying colored stock. As with all scripts, revised several times with the title page bearing the most recent date of November 28, 1994, credits listed as Charles Matthau, Silliphant and Ellis (screenwriters), Capote (novel) and Jerry Tokofsky (producer). Includes a manuscript letter, dated January 11, 1995. Signed by cast members Sissy Spacek (with inscription), Walter Matthau, Sean Patrick Flannery, Piper Laurie, Joe Don Baker, Nell Carter, and Mary Steenburgen. The script was owned by Bob and Sally J. Harper, the production's hair-stylist and makeup artist, respectively, two veterans of the Hollywood movie industry. They had the screenplay signed by the Hollywood luminaries, then gifted the script to their grandson, Stephen, as evinced by the manuscript letter ("Grandma & Grandpa").Adapted from Capote's second novel, which was informed by his Monroeville childhood and the treehouse in which he played with his cousins and, incidentally, Harper Lee.
