I Was Hitler's Maid. First edition. The author purports they were arrested by the Gestapo, sent to Dachau, released, became a housemaid for a prominent Nazi, and then for Hitler at Berchtesgaden. Hitler is presented as a brute with a sordid love life. Though the book surely enthralled its wartime audience, it was exposed in 1970 as a hoax concocted by two unemployed journalists.
