Item #371914 Robert Hoe III commissioned Ralph Goddard to design a statue to celebrate Gutenberg in 1899 and simultaneously had bronze and silver medals produced in a limited quantity to commemorate the occasion of Gutenberg's 500th birthday and the first American statue devoted to the printer.
