Posthumous signed limited edition First edition, signed limited issue, one of 100 copies issued with the author's clipped signature mounted to the limitation leaf of Volume 1, this copy stamped "Presentation copy" rather than numbered. The posthumous collection includes a preface by the author adapted from a letter written not long before his death in 1982. Issued with the first volume is a loosely inserted bifolium of "Brief Synopsis for Alternate World Novel: The Acts of Paul", Dick's plan for an unwritten novel set in a world in which Paul of Tarsus was never converted on the road to Damascus, leaving Christianity to die out and Manichaeism to become the established religion. The trade issue comprised 400 unsigned copies. 5 vols, octavo. Original red boards, spines lettered in gilt, front covers lettered in black, red marbled endpapers. Housed in the publisher's black slipcase. Slipcase with discreet repair to one joint. A fine copy in near-fine slipcase.
