[AUTOGRAPH LETTER, SIGNED, "G.W. CABLE"]. To a "Miss Gilman," likely in New Haven, thanking her for "...the delightful day you and the household about you so kindly and gracefully gave me at the time of my visit to New England. I beg you to add to all your other kindness by remembering the wanderer who came & went tis now so far away; and if ever your haven should be New Orleans, give me just half a chance to make it homelike and it shall be done." He further asks that he be remembered to her cousin, the editor of the New Englander (the predecessor to the Yale Review), whose name he has forgotten.
