Invitation to the wedding of Sheikh Zayed's daughter. An uncommon example of Emirati royal ephemera, this is an invitation to the wedding of Sheikh Suroor bin Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Shamma bint Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (b. 1967), daughter of Sheikh Zayed and Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi, in 1983. Sheikh Suroor and his brothers Hamdan, Mubarak, Tahnoun, and Saif were distant cousins of Sheikh Zayed and among his closest allies. From 1966 to his retirement from politics in 2003, Sheikh Suroor played major roles in public service, such as that of Chairman of the UAE Central Bank. Sheikha Shamma bint Zayed has long been involved in UAE public life, particularly in projects and events supporting women's role in culture and society.
